This painting was a blast to paint. By this time I could paint still life's without having to buy the fruit and set it all up. Unfortunately, this kind of subject matter became my bane. It was what I was expected to paint and that took all the fun out of it. My still life paintings sold well and the pressure to crank these out in order to make it was too great. I burnt out after 6 years of it and until I found this site, I hadn't picked up a pencil. I still haven't painted anything for 3 years. Just work...

The artist's life can be a selfish life, be careful not to put yourself into a situation where you must choose between it and the financial security of your children. I could of made it professionally, but it would have meant selling out artistically or moving my wife and kids away from everything they and I love. I chose them and though I miss the pure joy and rush of painting something really really cool, I have found even more joy in being around to help my kids find their way and hone their talents. Luckily my daughter was born with the artistic talent (more than I have), and I now get to be a part of her journey in finding the unique thrill only artists can find. Creating
something beautiful.

I will be back some day maybe sooner than later... I hope

There is some serious dry-brush in P-n-C's. I had to be careful not to get so thick that a "sheen" or shine was created. Arches 300 lbs rough was the only way to prevent this.

Thank you for the compliment and the fav!

It is watercolor. Lots of washes first, then hours of dry-brush. It was done on 300 lbs Arches, Rough.

Thanks for the fav!

There are moments when I want to just lock myself in my studio and create anything forever.

Thank you for the support, it means a lot to me right now!
